Ever wanted to make a recipe that calls for brown sugar, and then realized you don’t have any?
No problem! If you have white sugar and molasses, it’s easy to make your own brown sugar — light or dark.
To make LIGHT brown sugar, I add one tablespoon of molasses to one cup of white sugar.
To make DARK brown sugar, I add two tablespoons of molasses to one cup of white sugar.
They mix very easily and create a lovely, easy to work with brown sugar. Best part? Making it fresh like this ensures that your brown sugar won’t be all clumped together if you need to measure it out for a recipe! 🙂
