Homeschooling in Mexico: Interview with Mike Richardson of El Hogar Educador

Editor’s Note: Back in 2010, I interviewed Mike Richardson of El Hogar Educador, Mexico’s first and primary homeschooling ministry and organization, for the website SpiritualSalt.com. I am reprinting it here to draw attention to the homeschooling movement in Mexico, and to ask American homeschool families to prayerfully consider offering their support for the movement. We…

Homeschool Project: Make Green Carnations for St. Patrick’s Day

Tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day. Here is a fun green homeschool project that you can do today, to enjoy green-tipped flowers tomorrow. This project will visually demonstrate how the transport system of a flowering plant works. Specifically, that water moves up vessels in the stem of a flowering plant, and along with water, other liquids…

Homeschool Project: Make a Red Wiggler Worm habitat

My eight-year-old, Isaac, has been fascinated with all aspects of getting our Back to Eden garden ready for spring. From planting the seedlings, to putting down the black-plastic temporary tarp, to climbing our pile of wood chips, there’s fun for him at every turn! Now, we’ve started a new science project to satisfy his curiosity…

Handwriting Key

I bought a handwriting key from an educational supply store when my son was very small. It didn’t take long for it to look ragged, and it’s been misplaced more than once. I ended up deciding to make my own, which actually has two keys on a single page, so if you have two kids,…

About Me

My name is actually Sara, not Sally, and I'm not just a homemaker. In fact, first and foremost I'm a homeschooling mama to a son who's halfway through high school. I'm also a website developer, historical fiction author, history & genealogy nerd, and an avid fan of "Murder, She Wrote."

PLEASE NOTE…

SallyHomemaker.com was originally launched on New Year’s Day 2012. I regularly maintained it through 2013 and then started posting more sporadically. In 2015, my first historical fiction novel was published so I mostly stopped posting altogether. In 2017, I took the site offline, but I always knew I would eventually get back to it.

Well, here’s the new site! I write all of this so you will understand the gaps in the content and the fact that some of the posts here are several years old.

I will be posting about the topics in the categories listed below. If there’s something special you’d like to see, feel free to drop me a line at hello@sallyhomemaker.com.

Thank you!
